On behalf of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, the Executive Committee has established the following COVID-19 Relief Funds Programs. The Executive Committee understands the impact this pandemic has had on our AST community and wants nothing more than to help serve our people. With this being said, the following programs have been opened on 9/28/2020:
COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program:
The COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program is designed to help alleviate the risk of energy utility service disconnection (i.e. electricity, gas, propane or heating oil/wood).
Details and the application can be found at: COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program
COVID-19 Home Relief Program:
The Absentee Shawnee COVID-19 Home Relief Program is designed to decrease evictions/foreclosures, prevent homelessness and increase home stability by helping Absentee Shawnee families whose income has been adversely affected by COVID-19.
Details and the application can be found at: COVID-19 Home Relief Program
Due to CDC restrictions the Executive Committee will allow only 10 visitors/Tribal members to attend tomorrows EC meeting, 9-16-2020. If you are needing to attend, you must contact the Governor’s office to be added to the list. Once again, we are only allowing 10 visitors/tribal members on campus during this time. In order to keep everyone safe and social distance we will follow all guidelines until further notice.
The Absentee Shawnee Tribe intended to move to Phase 2 of our Recovery Plan on September 1. However, out of an abundance of caution, the Executive Committee (EC) has decided to postpone that date. The EC will reconvene on Tuesday, September 8th to determine the safest course of action for our tribal members and employees. We will keep you updated on our plans as soon as more information can be provided.
Tomorrow (8/28) & Saturday (8/29), the AST Executive Committee will be hosting COVID-19 Education Aid Gift Card distributions. Student eligibility includes those who are enrolled in no less than 6 credit hours per semester or enrolled in a fulltime program at a college, technical or online school.
Parents or guardians of homeschooled students, if you have any questions, please email educationaid@astribe.com or call AST Enrollment at 405.275.4030.
Applications will be available at the distribution event but please be sure to bring all required documents.

Due to a main waterline break, there is no water pressure on the AST campus at Shawnee. This impacts the entire complex, including the pharmacy and the clinic. Effective immediately, we are closing the administrative complex, the AST pharmacy and the Health Clinic until repairs can be completed. We do not believe this will have impact on Monday's operations, but we will keep you updated. Please call the pharmacy to ensure drive-thru prescription pick-up is available on Saturday.

Oklahoma continues to report record high COVID positives. The AST complex will remain in Phase 1 of our Recovery Plan for at least one more week. The Complex is closed to visitors and non-essential staff. Our Executive Committee will reconvene toward the end of next week to review the situation with Emergency Management. We will then make the determination as to whether to move back into Phase 2 or prolong Phase 1. As we are coming into this weekend, many will be preparing to go back to school. As you are shopping for back to school essentials, please remember to follow CDC guidelines while in retail stores. If possible, we recommend placing your orders online and utilizing curbside pick-up. Have a safe weekend.
