General Description
The TERO Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the entire TERO program (Tribal Employment Rights Office).
Responsibilities & Duties
  • Direct oversight of the TERO program and the Tribal Employment Rights Office
  • Must work closely with surrounding communities in acquiring job placement sites and training opportunities for TERO clients
  • Must be willing and able to effectively case manage
  • Responsible for the oversight of TERO as regulated by the Absentee Shawnee Tribe’s Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO)
  • Must assist Tribal Members in obtaining TERO/Indian-Owned Certification
  • Must maintain a list of Certified Businesses
  • In consultation with the Executive Committee, monitor all tribal construction projects and contracting activities
  • Inform the Executive Committee, Tribal Entities, Employers and Contractors of the requirements of the TERO/Workplace Protection Act with respect to employment and contract procurement under these laws
  • Oversee that Certified Businesses receive an invitation to bid on projects
  • Must maintain an up-to-date tribal labor surplus pool (TERO Hiring Hall) and must refer Tribal Members and other Indians to an employer or contractor for consideration of employment
  • Enforce any employment and procurement policies and procedures in accordance with the Absentee Shawnee Tribe TERO/Tribal Workplace Protection Act, including the processing of Employee Complaint Charges
  • Must work closely with both the Executive Committee and the TERO Board of Commissioners
  • Responsible for coordinating monthly TERO Commissioner meetings
  • Must adhere to Absentee Shawnee Tribe Personnel Policies and Drug and Alcohol Policies
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Qualifications
  • Must have a High School diploma or Equivalent. Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience working with a TERO/Tribal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity (WIOA) Program.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test for pre-employment for the Tribe
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License. 
  • Must be able to pass a background check. 
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend or kneel for long periods of time.
  • Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
  • Willing to Travel.
  • Frequent lifting (up to 15 lbs)
  • Occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs)
