General Description
Probation/Wellbriety Officer responsible for enforcing Tribal, State, and Federal Law on property owned by the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma.
Responsibilities & Duties
  • Provide community supervision and monitor status of probationers and/or wellbriety clients
  • Provide Case Reports and update judge and Attorney General on progress
  • Advocates and/or Attend Court with probationers and wellbriety clients
  • Track and update case plans as needed for reporting purposes
  • Assists with court orders and corrective action plans from judge/AG
  • Operate a law enforcement vehicle
  • Make arrests on court offenses and obtain information for required reports
  • Use a firearm proficiently
  • Conduct criminal investigations of court offenses
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Perform related duties as required
  • Able to perform under pressure; able to perform job duties in a high stress environment; may involve physical altercations with non-compliant suspects.
  • Administer Drug Screenings.
  • Submit fingerprints to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations for submission into the Automated Fingerprint Identification System Database.
  • Must adhere to Absentee Shawnee Tribe Personnel Policies and Drug and Alcohol Policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent. Associates degree preferred
  • Must be CLEET/BIA certified.
  • Selected applicants must pass extensive background investigation, psychological test, physical training test, and drug screen. This position is a physically active and high stress position.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • No Felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for crimes of domestic violence or crimes of moral turpitude.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Have good physical strength and stamina; 
  • Be independent, responsible and self-disciplined; 
  • Ability to lift 50lbs. 
  • Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
