General Description
This position is responsible for ensuring all grants and accounting transactions are in compliance and current with regulations and GASB/GAAP/OMB Super Circular, federal guidelines and internal policies. The Compliance Analyst is responsible for providing effective capacity building in grant financial management and administration, Grant Management and implementing grants planning, monitoring and evaluation with regard to finance in respect of federal reporting and compliance.
Responsibilities
Ensure grant and accounting transactions are in compliance with current regulations pertaining to each grant and funding agency
Stay up to date of changes in grants and accounting policies/regulations and ensure changes are implemented timely
Works with and provides comprehensive financial reporting to program staff and management
Provides variance analysis reporting, creates financial system reporting solutions, initiates corrective action and adjustments and track activities with regards to programs
Ensure grant reporting deadlines are followed and met
Assists and Prepares audit requirements and Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA)
Provides all necessary support for programmatic, fiscal, and administrative audits.
Supports all program managers by preparing all requested records and responding to all auditors’ requests.
Assists in the grant budgeting process
Assists and prepares monthly and special reports for Tribal officials as requested
Review budgets as approved by funding agency and special conditions requirements completed in timely manner
Ensure timely submission of Monthly and Annual Financial and Program Reports
Ensure efficient payments and disbursements according to grants and tribe’s approved policy and procedures.
Follow up on issues raised by auditors in the Management Letter to ensure resolution
Research, recommend and assists in implementation of federal grants requirements, policies and procedures
Review financial reports and ensure compliance with the Grant Agreement and federal requirements.
Ensure efficient payments and disbursements according to approved policy and procedures
Other related duties as assigned by Controller
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting required
Minimum of two years’ experience in accounting, reporting, and analysis
Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, GASB and OMB Super Circulars
Strong analytical and quantitative skills;
Self-direct with ability to independently identify problems and establish solutions
Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
Proficiency in computer programs including Microsoft Excel and Word, and accounting software (Sage MIP preferred)
