General Description
The 477 Programs Case Specialist will assist Case Managers, conducting interviews with participants who are eligible the AST 477 Program, as well as will assist with general office duties.  The 477 Programs Case Specialist may perform case data entry, assist with supportive services delivery and client interventions as well as assist with individual self-sufficiency plans (ISPs).  They may also perform work to include, but are not limited to, determination of program eligibility; and resource and referral for services for clients to other departments to assist with employment, education and training activities.
Responsibilities & Duties
  • May conduct interviews with clients and follow through with service assistance and referral delivery.
  • May assist Case Manager to perform in-depth assessments of employment history, job skills, transferable skills, entry level and advanced abilities, training and education of the eligible participants.
  • May assist Case Manager in helping 477 participants to set goals, steps, tasks and time lines to develop and execute a written plan/contract between the 477 Programs and participants.
  • Assist Case Manager in working with participants to monitor individual progress and compliance with employment and/or job search plan/contracts. Includes ongoing maintenance of case notes, plan/contract renegotiations and updates.
  • Maintain files and process all paperwork to ensure due process and in compliance with Federal regulations and confidentiality and privacy laws.
  • Assist in monitoring proper maintenance of files and processes from an intake.
  • Will cross train with other 477 Program staff.
  • Must be able to present 102-477 regulations clearly and accurately to participants and public. 
  • Participates in staff conferences for the purpose of overall program planning.
  • Provide input to 477 Executive Director on the processes and implementing best practices, as needed.
  • May assist to provide input on monthly reports presented to the Governor for informal or formal oral evaluations of the program.
  • Must adhere to Absentee Shawnee Tribe Personnel Policies and Drug and Alcohol Policies
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age and have one of the following:
  • Associates Degree, preferably in Human Services or related filed and one (1) year experience in social services field; or 
  • Two (2) year experience in Human Services field, or related work in a family relations and/or public assistance program; or
  • Preference for Bachelors’ Degree, preferably in Human Services or related field.
  • Applicants must have experience in working with Native American communities, experience in Tribal social services settings, preferred.  Must exercise mature judgment in dealing with people and in the solving of individual and family problems related to the provision of employment, education and training. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Offices systems a must.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test for pre-employment for the Tribe.
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License. 
  • Must be able to pass a background check. 
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend or kneel for long periods of time.
  • Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
  • Frequent lifting (up to 15 lbs)
  • Occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs)
