General Description
The purpose of this position is to serve all of the AST Health System.  The AST Health System is an ambulatory health system that currently serves patients with Insurance (Indian and Non-Indian), Absentee Shawnee Tribal Citizens, and Absentee Shawnee Tribal employees and other Native Americans. 
Responsibilities & Duties
Greet patient and make sure their EHR is updated.
Use and understand the Clinic’s EHR system to obtain the laboratory orders from the providers. Be able to schedule lab only appointments as appropriate.
Use and understand the Lab Information System, Orchard Harvest.
Interact well with patients, staff, and other agency professionals.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good organizational and assessment skills.
Fully utilize a computer and multiple programs.
Perform duties with a minimum of supervision.
Be a dependable team member of the clinic setting and be ready to start work on time.
Understand that you are the face of the department and to engage the patient so they are comfortable.
Safeguards confidentiality of the medical charts/records and complies with all local, state, and federal laws pertaining to medical records.  Assures compliance with all HIPAA regulations concerning use, retrieval, storage, and sharing of medical records.
Any other duties that may be necessary for proper lab function as deemed fit by the Laboratory Director or Laboratory Manager.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Qualifications
High school diploma
Experience with medical records and medical office procedures
Familiar with Microsoft Office applications
Familiar with Laboratory test language and CPT codes.
Skills and Attributes:
Must be reliable, detailed oriented, capable of multi-tasking with excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong professional customer- service interpersonal skills.  
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to relate well with co-workers and the general public.
Ability to adjust to changing conditions.
Must be computer literate required (Windows operating systems – Microsoft Word, Excel). 
Must have a valid Driver’s License
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend or kneel for long periods of time.
Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
Frequent lifting (up to 15 lbs)
Occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs)
