Maintains grounds and participates in ground construction activities. Working conditions include dirty environment, extreme temperature, lifts or carries heavy objects. 

• Maintain plants shrubs, trees, and flowers; prunes trees and shrubs.
• Removes debris from stairs and walks, rakes leaves, and mows lawn.
• Waters trees, shrubs, and lawns and performs irrigation activities.
• Sprays for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals as required.
• Operates large power lawn movers, edger’s, hand tools, and large vehicles associated with ground maintenance and landscaping activities.
• Operates pick-up trucks, flat-rack trucks, dump trucks for hauling purposes and for trash and debris removal.
• Performs minor maintenance and repair on equipment and tools as required.
• Assists in the maintenance of parking lots and other surfaces, including asphalt repairs and minor masonry or plastering work as required.
• Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks, and entryways as required.
• Installs and removes outdoor signs, parking and traffic control barriers, and overhead banners as required.
• Performs and assists in building repairs on Shawnee campus as needed.
• Preforms and assists with custodial duties as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned

• High School Graduate or GED equivalent 
• Knowledge of equipment, tools, and procedures of grounds constructions and care.
• Knowledge of fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides used in grounds care and gardening.
• Experience maintaining grounds from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
• Skill in operating grounds maintenance and grounds construction equipment.
• Position requires valid Oklahoma Driver’s license
• Must pass successful drug screening and background check

• Should enjoy working outdoors, in all weather conditions; 
• Be practical and hard-working;

• Have mechanical aptitude; 
• Have organizational ability; 
• Have the ability to endure isolation and limited social contact; 
• Have good physical strength and stamina; 
• Be independent, responsible and self-disciplined; 
• Ability to lift 50lbs. 
• Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
