General Description
Agricultural Coordinator manages programs under the Absentee Shawnee Tribe Department of Agriculture. Working in a variety of locations, including on-site farm operations, in an office, or in a combination of both, sometimes outside of regular business hours and overseeing staff and operations. (Including but not limited to crop and livestock production, processing, and distribution).
Responsibilities & Duties
  • Maintaining and managing the budget for the Department of Agriculture (providing reports and documentation to oversight, assessing financial needs for current and upcoming projects within a timely manner, attend and present at all necessary meetings as determined by oversight, etc.) 
  • Collaborating with Agricultural Foreman, Agricultural Leads, and Agricultural Hands about project status, project needs, scheduling needs, quality control, etc. 
  • Operating vehicles and equipment for agricultural purposes, such as trucks, trailers, tractors, forklifts, seeders, spreaders, balers, front-end loaders, etc. 
  • Transporting, loading, and unloading of vehicles and equipment between necessary locations for use, maintenance, and/or storage 
  • Determining best-use practices and parameters to grow AST Department of Agriculture from start-up status to a thriving, self-sustaining entity; this includes, but is not limited to, supervising Agricultural team, ensuring regular inspections of crops and animals, and overseeing compliance requirements for regulations, policy, and procedures while working within and maintaining USDA standard practices 
  • Maintaining communication within and between Departments, as needed, as well as following chain-of-command when addressing problems
  • Demonstrating an ability to continuously track and improve upon herd productivity through hands-on techniques and maintenance of accurate records
  • Working with APM  to oversee, supervise, and actively take part in the maintenance and scheduling of duties of herd personnel and animal care
  • Using effective and adaptive problem solving in day-to-day operations
  • Scheduling repairs, preventative maintenance, and replacement of equipment or parts.
  • Performing same duties as Agricultural Foreman, if needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree preferred in Agricultural , Animal Husbandry, and/or Agronomy (or similar) preferred; minimum three years’ experience in agriculture related work.
  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills. 
  • Deadline and detail orientated. 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Sitting or standing or walking for long period of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking hearing and visual acuity.
