Purpose: The purpose of this public hearing is to allow public comments relating to the draft AST 102-477 plan. The final Plan will be submitted to the P.L. 102-477 for the approval of the plan to be used for the plan period 1/1/2023-12/31/2025. The public is encouraged to attend this meeting to give feedback on the draft plan and this input will be considered when completing the final AST 102-477 Plan. Robert White, age 91, lifelong resident of Little Axe, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at his home surrounded by family.
He was born December 16, 1930 in Little Axe, Oklahoma to Willie White and Tennie Little Jim.
Robert was raised in Little Axe and attended High School and Post Graduate at Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas.
He married Dorothy Jean (Marshall) White.
Robert proudly served his country for 4 years in the U.S. Air Force as Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged.
He worked most of his life in the Construction and Carpentry.
Robert was a proud member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe, Cornerstone Indian Baptist Church, Little Axe Alumni, Metal Lathers Local 26 and Carpenters Union Local 329.
He loved being with church members, family, and friends and playing harmonica.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie White & Tennie Little Jim; his wife, Dorothy Jean White; brother, Leroy White; and step-son, Allen George Bowman.
Survivors include his son, Robert White, Jr.; sister, Barbara & Jerry Little Axe; granddaughters, Kim and Erica; and numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.

August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day. Our Ensuring Hope Project will be providing a survey and goody bag while supplies last on August 31st in front of the Behavioral Health building at the Shawnee Clinic.
Our Tribal Opioid Response Project will also be giving out Narcan kits.

In an effort to update and modernize its Tribal Transportation Program, the Absentee Shawnee Tribe (AST) is developing a long-range transportation plan (LRTP). The LRTP will allow for the inventory and analysis of transportation infrastructure within the AST transportation network and geographic service area. The LRTP identifies goals and develops strategies to address current and future land use, economic development, traffic demand, and public health, safety, and social needs (25 CFR Part 170.400 and 410).
The tribal communities and local population are the beneficiaries of tribal transportation improvements. The AST invites the members of the tribal community and various stakeholders with a vested in interest to attend a public meeting to ask questions and share information. The meeting will be held at the AST Multi-Purpose Building on Friday, August 12, 2022, starting at 10 am and concluding by noon. Refreshments will be provided.
