The Absentee Shawnee Tribe is primarily located in the heart of central Oklahoma with approximately 4,760 members who live in all parts of the world as of December 31, 2025. Our tribal government complex is located in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Our logo features Tecumseh, a Shawnee warrior and visionary leader, who worked to unite tribes in a common homeland where Indians could live under their own laws and leaders. He died in October 1813, in battle near the area of present day Thamesville, in Toronto, Canada. The LI-SI-WI-NWI in our logo means “Among the Shawnee”

Introduction The Absentee Shawnee Tribal Health Authority (ASTHA) is soliciting proposals from qualified firms or individuals to provide Interim Financial Management and Oversight Services. The selected contractor will ensure continuity of financial operations, regulatory compliance, financial integrity, and strategic planning support while ASTHA recruits and fills vacant financial positions. In addition, the contractor will evaluate the operational and financial requirements necessary to establish a fully functional and independent health department finance operation. Angel Tree Program Guidelines and Application

The Indian Child Welfare Angel Tree program helps provide Christmas gifts to Absentee Shawnee children and elders, ages 0-17 in AST foster care or in legal guardianship through the AST tribal courts and Elders 65 years and older. Once an angel has been registered and accepted their Christmas wish list is placed on ICW’s Christmas tree for donors to purchase gifts. The gifts are distributed to the family to place under their Christmas tree.

Shawnee Complex Closure Monday 10/12

The City of Shawnee will be turning off the water to the Shawnee complex for waterline maintenance.  Therefore the Shawnee complex will be closed on Monday, October 12, 2020.  We will resume business the following business day, October 13, 2020 at 8:00 a.m.  Should you have any question please feel free to contact my office.
